The second session of the program explores the concept of visual mouvement of thoughts and actions as translated from the prism of video. The gamepad refers to the notion of selective manipulation, from body and mind, that intervenes in the approach of filmmaking, as well as in our instinctive consciousness. Because the video dispositive appears to us as such an automatic, simple and instantaneous mechanism, we forget that it is actually the crystallisation of quite complex elements. These elements might be technical and machine-based at first glance, but a closer look will reveal that they actually mimic the natural phenomenon of the brain, playing the game of memory, editing, flashback, close up, superimpositions, sound effects, image successions etc. We, as human beings, decide what we want to focus on, what we decide to forget, which path we want to follow, reflections we want to conduct and movements we want to create in the coordination of our mind and body, just like in a video game. The gamepad questions this control that we have on our own decisions and the various manipulations/associations we can envisage, in real life or virtually. The more complex your chemin de pens is, the more powerful your movements are

The choice of the game-pad as the second symbolic object representing the video medium, also comes from the desire to confront these two cultures that have so often inter-influenced each others and tend to come together in the development of innovative media, such as Virtual or Augmented Reality. In the context of omnipresent researches to create new content and supports, the game-pad might just be the futur of video art.
